5th Anniversary

Matt and I had and awesome 5th Anniversary date in Chicago.  After our vacation his parents offered to keep the kids so we could do something fun to celebrate.  This was my first night away from Caleb and I wasn't nervous or anxious at all.  Technically we did a night away 2 years ago and Grace went to my parents for 2 nights before Caleb was born.  However, both of those times I was pregnant with Caleb and was really sick because of it.  So they weren't even fun.  So, I'm counting this as our first night completely kid free since Grace was born.

Anyway, we stayed at the W hotel in Chicago right by Navy Pier. So, after taking the train from the suburbs and a taxi to our hotel we walked over to Navy Pier.  There we walked around a ton, ate dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., had a couple margaritas, a couple desserts, enjoyed a 30-minute boat tour, took in a Chinese acrobats show, walked around some more, watched the fireworks they have every Saturday night and walked back to our hotel.

Fortunately on Sunday we were able to sleep in until 9 am!  After taking some time to get going and walking to Michigan Avenue we decided to have breakfast The Grand Lux Cafe.  It was almost 11 by the time we got there and found out they were serving their whole menu.  So, we opted for lunch food instead.

We spent the rest of the day shopping, visiting Millenium Park, Grant Park, and walking along the lake. After getting our bags from the hotel we took a taxi back to the train station and headed back to Matt's parents. 24 hours in the city was refreshing and great!
