The Clothing Room

Since 2005 I have been serving at a local ministry, Empty Tomb, with my small group. We have done many things to help them out (I used the term help them out loosely since we only go once a month for 2 hours) such as home repair, mailings, cleaning, and mostly working in the clothing room. And by that I mean going through bags of peoples old clothes, folding, sorting, and hanging them so that people in our community can have access to them. It is a great ministry and although I usually groan about sorting through dirty clothes I am glad that I have been able to do this. I have encountered bags of clothes with mouse dropping, cigarette smoke smell, animal hair, dirty underwear and bags that are freshly laundered, folded neatly and full of nearly new clothes but tonight I encountered my favorite bag yet. Our time at Empty Tomb was coming to an end for the evening and we declared last bag to be sorted. If it hadn't been pre-declared we would have had to end with it because of the contents inside. It was phenomenal. It was phenomenal because Matt is a huge Wisconsin sports fan, because the girls I was sorting clothes with grew up in the 80's-early 90's, because we all love Zach Morris and because I wasn't sure if the person who donated the clothes had been wearing them for the last 20 years or just likes to hang onto stuff. Have you looked ahead yet to see the pictures? I bet most of you have and didn't even read this far. O well, here are some contents of the last bag of the night.

This shirt was a women's tank top. It was short and "cute".

Don't worry, be happy!

Who can resist cutting shirts up the side and then tying them for a little decorative flair?

What the D Stands For

After spending the lat 18 months of my life frequently reading about pregnancy and babies online I have finally figured something out (don't worry I will get to it). One of my favorite websites is BabyCenter and I have found a lot of useful information browsing it. In my opinion that website eliminates the need to buy any of the books that track pregnancy and baby growth week by week. It has all the info in the books and then some. The then some part is sometimes a little overwhelming and stupid for lack of a better word. People write in questions to message boards and then comes a multitudes of replies. While generally not worth reading, I do admit to scouring the message boards for some things when Grace was tiny just so I could say she was normal. Ok, I'm getting to the point of this post. In reading the messages I have often come across several acronyms that I have NO idea what they stand for. The most common have been DD, DS, and DH. I have been able to deduce that the second letter means daughter, son or husband. But, what in the world does the first letter mean? Today, I decided to stop guess weird things like dog, doughnut, dolphin and dinosaur and finally looked it up. It stands for DEAR. Go figure!

And now I will speak to you in message board code.

FWIW, 18 months ago I did the BD with my DH. To confirm I was PG I POAS twice. After and uneventful PG and a easy L&D we now have a DD. I took a ML and am now a SAHM and a FTM. My DD subsided on BM for the first 6 months of life then started eating solids and had stinky BM's. I could say more but this is hard to speak in code so I hope to leave you ROFL.
